Nothing beats the feelings of welcoming a brand new baby into the world,

and I loved getting to meet this sweet little girl for her newborn session. At just 3 weeks old, she was full of personality already, and we captured so many beautiful moments that her family will cherish for years to come.

One question I hear all the time is, "Did I miss the newborn stage?" The answer is no! But it may go a bit differently...

While I typically recommend scheduling newborn sessions within the first two weeks after birth, it is never too late to capture memories. Every baby is different, and beautiful images can be created no matter when your session takes place.

Around the 3-week mark, babies begin changing quite a bit. They tend to be more alert, wake more easily, aren't as bendy for poses, feed more frequently, and sometimes begin developing a little baby acne. They also start discovering their own preferences (yes, already!).

This sweet girl definitely had a little case of FOMO (fear of missing out)

She didn't want to miss anything happening around her! We took our time, gave her plenty of breaks, and with a few cozy snuggles from Mom, she drifted off to sleep. Once she was comfortable, we captured so many peaceful, sleepy portraits.

She also let us know she wasn't a fan of having her legs tucked in during her on-belly shots. Rather than forcing poses, I always follow baby's lead and adjust throughout the session. My goal is for every newborn to stay happy, safe, and comfortable while creating timeless images that feel natural.

Mom had a beautiful vision for her session and requested a soft boho style. The warm brown wicker basket paired with a natural woven blanket created the perfect neutral setup that kept the focus right where it belonged, on their beautiful baby girl. I also had an adorable newborn bed prop we utilizied with a boho textures in the area rug and her outfit for some more variety.

She also wanted a few classic newborn portraits

So we wrapped her in a simple white swaddle against a white backdrop. These timeless images highlight every tiny newborn feature, from her little nose and lips to those delicate eyelashes and tiny fingers. They are the kind of portraits that never go out of style.

This session took place in my Pelham, New Hampshire home studio, where everything was ready before Mom and Dad arrived. Although my studio is located within my home, it is fully equipped with professional lighting, backdrops, flooring, wraps, props, headbands, bonnets, and all the little details needed for a newborn session.

Parents are able to relax on the couch, enjoy a quiet moment together, and watch the session unfold while their baby stays just a few feet away in a calm, cozy environment. I provide everything needed, so all you have to bring is your little one.

If leaving the house with a newborn feels overwhelming, don't worry...

That's an option too! I can also pack up my studio and bring the experience to your home for a lifestyle or studio-style newborn session in the comfort of your own space.

If you're worried you've waited too long, I hope this session is a reminder that it's never too late to preserve these fleeting moments. Whether your baby is one week old or several weeks old, there is still so much beauty to capture. Every newborn session is unique because every baby is unique, and I love creating images that celebrate exactly who they are in this season of life.

If you're expecting or have recently welcomed a little one, I'd love to help you preserve these precious first memories. My newborn sessions are relaxed, baby-led, and designed to create timeless images your family will treasure for generations.
