There is something so special about celebrating a baby’s first birthday with a cake smash session
and this sweet little girl’s session was the perfect example of why I love creating setups that reflect each family’s vision.
Mom reached out wanting a clean, classic, and timeless look for her daughter’s first birthday photos. She sent me some beautiful inspiration photos featuring soft whites and creams, and together, we created a setup that fit perfectly within my Clean & Classic cake smash theme.
For this session, we chose a white wood floor, simple white backdrop, clean and classic lighting, white props, and soft beige accents through the balloons and party hat. The result was simple, beautiful, and timeless.
What I especially love about a clean setup like this is how it brings all of the attention right where it belongs...on your baby.
From her adorable expressions to her sweet little cake-covered face, every detail of her personality was able to shine.
Mom brought her daughter in just a few weeks before her first birthday and wanted to make sure she had her photos back in time to celebrate. She also chose to add a cake to her session, which made the process even easier. For an additional $50, I worked with local baker Samantha's Delicious Designs to provide the perfect cake for the setup.
And this little girl definitely did not disappoint when it came time for the smash! She was very into her cake and ended up covered from head to toe which is always a cake smash win! Between the frosting-covered face, the adorable expressions, and the cake mess, she gave us exactly what a cake smash session should be all about: fun, personality, and memories of this special milestone.

I recommend booking your cake smash session a few weeks before your little one’s actual birthday. This gives us plenty of time to schedule your session, make your image selections, and have your final gallery delivered in time for birthday celebrations.
Your baby only turns one once, and a cake smash session is such a fun way to document this incredibly special stage.
