Lauren and Cam’s fall engagement session

There are some sessions where you spend the entire time thinking about how beautiful the photos are going to be, and then there are sessions where you’re having so much fun with your couple that you almost forget you’re working. Lauren and Cam’s fall engagement session in Pelham, NH was definitely the latter.

I met up with these two last November for their engagement photos, and they were so excited to finally have this season of their lives documented. I already had the perfect spot in mind: a quiet little corner of Pelham with beautiful fall tones, gorgeous golden light, and the prettiest sunsets.

We started with a little movement to help everyone loosen up in front of the camera. Rather than jumping right into posed portraits, we walked, spun around, acted goofy, and let the moments happen naturally. And honestly, I don’t think Lauren and Cam stopped laughing the entire time.

That’s one of my favorite things about photographing couples. You don’t have to spend the whole session perfectly posed or looking at the camera. Sometimes the best images come from simply being together, walking hand in hand, pulling each other in for a hug, making each other laugh, and just enjoying the person standing next to you.

And Lauren and Cam made that part incredibly easy. They were playful, relaxed, and completely themselves, which made their session feel less like a photoshoot and more like an evening spent hanging out together.

Of course, we still ended with plenty more laughing.

I absolutely loved spending this fall evening with Lauren and Cam, and I’m so glad they chose to document this exciting chapter of their relationship. Their session was the perfect reminder that engagement photos don't have to feel stiff or overly posed. The best sessions leave room for movement, laughter, connection, and simply being yourselves.
