There’s something so special about senior sessions when you give them room to really be themselves.
I recently had the sweetest time photographing Abby, a Class of 2027 senior, for her senior portraits in Hollis, New Hampshire. She wanted a beautiful outdoor session with a mix of classic senior portraits and details that felt personal to her — including her bright track shoes!
We spent about an hour exploring the location, looking for beautiful natural textures, tall grasses, and little pockets of light. Abby had such an adventurous attitude and was completely willing to get into the tall grass and explore with me, which made the session so much fun.
A Senior Session the Feels like You
One of my favorite parts of senior photography is finding ways to incorporate the things that make each senior unique.
For Abby, that meant bringing her track shoes into the session. The bright colors added such a fun pop against the natural setting and created some of my favorite images from her session.
Senior portraits don't have to be all traditional poses. Your session can include the sport you've dedicated years to, an instrument you love, a favorite hobby, or simply the little details that represent this chapter of your life.
Those personal touches are what make your senior gallery feel like your story.
Abby wanted plenty of beautiful outdoor portraits, but she also wanted to incorporate a little more beauty and personality into her images. We mixed natural, relaxed portraits with more polished beauty-focused images to give her a gallery with plenty of variety.
I loved watching her become more comfortable in front of the camera as we went. Some of my favorite images came from simply exploring the location together and letting her interact naturally with the environment.
Hollis has some beautiful natural scenery for senior portraits, and I especially love locations that give us a variety of backgrounds without feeling busy or overly crowded. This particular location is one of my favorite places to photograph because it's quiet, peaceful, and offers so many different natural textures and settings within one area. It gives us the opportunity to create a gallery that feels varied while still maintaining a cohesive look.
For seniors who love the outdoors, incorporating nature can create images that feel timeless while still capturing who they are at this point in their lives.
